Technical Issues

We have striven to make sure that Ancient Galaxy is compatible with a wide variety of machine configurations.

Performance Issues

If you have an integrated graphics chipset, and you find Ancient Galaxy too slow at the default 1024x768 resolution, you can try the 800x600 resolution instead, which may help somewhat.

On discrete graphics cards, Ancient Galaxy is typically CPU bound at lower resolutions, so you should be able to up the resolution to 1280x1024 or higher, and/or try Anti-Aliasing.

Ancient Galaxy uses a unique method known as Semi-Deferred shading that is compatible with Anti-Aliasing without requiring DirectX 10.1 hardware.

Ancient Galaxy has a built-in limiter that will disallow resolution & anti-aliasing combinations that require more than 768MB of video memory, not including textures.

Audio Issues

Ancient Galaxy uses the irrKlang sound library, forced into a very simple configuration to minimize audio support issues.  It uses software stereo mixing only.

Within Ancient Galaxy there is unique technology to actually perform real-time sound tracing between rooms that will make sounds in other rooms appear to come from the doorway connecting the rooms instead of just a straight line.
